This greeting literally means to \u201cface one another and exchange our breath of life\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aloha is to be in the presence of life, to share the essence of one\u2019s being with openness, honesty and humility.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1970, at a Governor\u2019s conference, Aunty Pilahi Paki, who was a \u201ckeeper of the Hawaiian secrets, introduced modern Hawai\u00ef to a deeper understanding of \u201cAloha\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0AKAHAI:\u00a0 meaning kindness (grace), to be expressed with tenderness;<\/span><\/p>\n

L<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0LOKAHI: meaning unity (unbroken), to be expressed with harmony;<\/span><\/p>\n

O<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 OLU\u2019OLU: meaning agreeable (gentle), to be expressed with pleasantness;<\/span><\/p>\n

H\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 HA\u2019AHA\u2019A: meaning humility (empty), to be expressed with modesty;<\/span><\/p>\n

A\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 AHONUI: meaning patience (waiting for the moment), to be expressed with perseverance<\/span><\/p>\n

A secret of \u201cAloha\u201d is that a person cannot do one of the principles without truly doing all and if you are not doing one you are not doing any. So, to be \u201cLiving Aloha\u201d is to live all the principles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
